Primark's Take Back Scheme

Low-price retail giant Primark’s take-back scheme is a virtue signal to try and demonstrate they are committed to responsible recycling and circularity. They claim you can return your clothing to be 're-loved', yet the majority of clothing donated in this way ends up as waste, particularly if in poor condition. This burdens low-income countries with piles of textile waste that overwhelm landfills and dumpsites. Globally, only 0.1% of textiles are recycled, so Primark is misleading customers as to how much will actually be recycled. Alongside the limitations of these schemes, there is no transparency about where these items actually end up.
