COS claim that this 100% plastic item is ‘sustainably crafted’, due to its use of recycled polyester derived from plastic water bottles – but this is a false solution and the claim is over-exaggerated. This recycled synthetic material is used in both the padding and lining. The full life cycle has not been considered as a truly sustainably crafted item would be recyclable at the end of life, whereas this cannot be.
