Pretty Little Thing Sustainability Collection
PLT claim to ‘understand that looking after the planet is more important than ever’, leading them to create a sustainability range moving to ‘sustainably sourced’ materials such as recycled bottles for clothing.
On closer inspection, using recycled polyester is in fact the only action they’ve taken to make this collection more ‘sustainable’. Yet, as with Boohoo, downcycling bottles is a false solution that undermines circularity. Given PLT’s status as an ultra fast fashion brand, this token effort towards sustainability is misleading and does nothing to mitigate their overproduction of multiple collections in a given month, further exacerbating fashion’s waste crisis.
